Modern-twist Matte Stephens Placemats

Plmtor04_bss_02I'm not a fan of standard high chairs. And being the planner that I am, I've already decided on the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair for my little one. The innovative, modern design brings baby tableside, which means he'll need his own placemats so that I can protect my wood tabletop and easily clean up the inevitable mess. These new Matte Stephens designed placemats from Modern-twist are numero uno on my list. The patterns are hand-silk-screened on non-toxic silicone, which is an incredibly easy-to-clean surface. I love the retro-inspired monster and owl designs! Buy them here.

Cargo Blu_Ray Collection

C11660_sm_2Get ready for your close-up, ladies. Cargo cosmetics recently launched a collection of makeup formulated specifically to create flawless faces in high-definition. You read it right—HD makeup. Wait! Before you dismiss your need for such a product, give me two more minutes. Even if you won't be walking the red carpet anytime soon, consider this: the Cargo blu_ray collection is also ideal for special events, weddings and photography. After flipping back and forth from the E! channel's non-HD broadcast to ABC's glowing hi-def red carpet Oscar arrivals, I was amazed at how the HD showed every little line and blemish. It kind of made me feel good to be reassured that these women are not perfect. But I also know that their makeup artists are hip to the latest and greatest revelations in makeup and they'll be testing these new products, too. Here's how it works (the technical stuff): photocromatic pigments used in the powders color correct makeup so color is consistent in all types of lighting, day or night; micro-fine particles fill in fine lines and wrinkles while micronized light diffusers reflect light randomly to help create a natural glow and camouflage imperfections; hyaluronic acid spheres and a peptide chain plumps lips and smoothes fine lines while transparent pearl pigments even out color. Now, even though my baby bump would have fit in quite nicely with Jessica's, Nicole's and Cate's, I have no desire to be put under the HD microscope. But nevertheless, as a fearless beauty product tester, I've sampled the collection and I'm hooked on the mascara (complete with a high-tech comb applicator to prevent clumping). I also like the pressed powder and blush/highlighter. Buy the collection here.

WallCandy Arts DottiLicious

Sparkability_1989_16676953Painting a room gives it style but adding color to the walls is not always an option for apartment dwellers. Wall decals are becoming increasing popular and offer a wonderful alternative to paint for those seeking to spruce up white walls. I heard about WallCandy Arts years ago, but it wasn't until recently that I had an opportunity to use their innovative product. For fun-loving adults, the dots, stripes, tulips and "glamorous girl sophisti-kit" designs are fantastic. I also think the chalkboard and chalkboard boarder would be great for a home office. Many of the patterns are kid-friendly—Rad Racers cars, Flutterflies, Pilot's Planes, etc.—making them perfect for nurseries, kids rooms and playrooms. My first foray into the world of WallCandy led me to the DottiLicious design. With 80 dots of varying sizes and colors, you can create your own work of vibrant art and change it whenever you please. The dots are printed with art book quality UV color printing. They are easy to clean and may be moved numerous times without ever causing damage to walls. I'm leaving out the pink dots for baby boy's nursery, in favor of Sea Blue, Robins Egg Blue, Fresh Lime Green, Sunshine Yellow and Chocolate Brown. Buy them here. photo courtesy of Sparkability.

Costume National Crinkle Patent Tote

DefaultThe other day I was feeling the need to give my ensemble a boost with a spring accessory, so I switched handbags and I've been toting around my Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag in Seafoam. I love the unusual, springy color and it goes well with lots of different outfits. It got me thinking that I really don't have too many "spring/summer" bags. I don't own a white handbag at all, in fact. While sifting through La Garconne's new arrivals I spotted this amazing white patent leather tote by Costume National. I love the funky shape and the details! File this one under lust-worthy accessories because it would require not paying rent for one month for me to actually afford it. Consider yourself lucky and extremely fashionable if you choose to pick one up. Buy or lust over it here.

Stacia Baby Spacedye Hoodie

685campixspearmint_m_3I discovered luxe knitwear label Stacia back in the summer of '05 and shared my fab fashion find in an article for Daily Candy. I've been a big fan ever since and it's always fun to get an email from designer Stacy Johnson announcing her latest collection. I covered her Eco-Spacedye collection yesterday on ecoFabulous but I have to give Stacey one more shout out this season because I adore her baby collection. Big surprise, huh? The Baby Spacedye Hoodie is too cute. Made from 100% spun rayon jersey it comes in itty bitty sizes 3-6, 6-12 and 12-18 mos. For little boys I like the Grasshopper green, neutral Creme and Pool blue patterns. Little girls will look cute in the purpley Denim and Tangerine hues. Now, I admit that dry cleaning and baby clothes are two things that really should not go together. But luckily this adorable piece is also hand washable (lay flat to dry). I say throw it in the washer on delicate and you're good to go—it's a small inconvenience for such a fantastic and unique piece of baby clothing. Buy it here. photo courtesy of Stacia.

Vaska Household Products

Vaska_groupApartment living in NYC and California has doomed me to a life of laundry woes. I've yet to have a washer and dryer in unit, which means multiple trips to and fro the garage/laundry room hauling my laundry bag and liquid (not to mention scrounging for one last quarter to finish the load). Lately, my loathsome laundry duties have been a tad more enjoyable thanks to Vaska, a green and sustainable business located in Berkeley, CA. Vaska household products are high efficiency, biodegradable, hypo-allergenic, and pretty darn fabulous if you ask me. I've been using the laundry liquid and spot remover for a couple of months and my clothes are softer than before. Herbal lavender extracts kill bacteria and purify clothing. Plus the sweet smelling (yet subtle) aroma makes the laundry room a little less daunting. Residue-free and carcinogen-free, Vaska is good for you and the environment. And the HE concentrated formula means you don't have to carry a huge, heavy bottle to the laundry room every time, and you get 48 washes out of one bottle. Buy Vaska here.

Kumi Kookoon Silk Eyemask

Eyemask_ch05smFile this one under stylish essentials. You know, those items that are necessities for comfort but are made even better when they are super-luxe and stylish? A good eyemask is definitely an essential in my book. I never travel without one and I use it at home almost every night. I first started using them to help prevent headaches (If I was scrunching my eyes closed tightly, I'd wake up with a headache for sure). Now I use this beautifully soft Kumi Kookoon silk eyemask when I need ultimate relaxation. Covered in fine silk charmeuse and filled with hand-stretched silk fibers, this luxe item lifts stress and tension thanks to its airy properties. Beautiful hues include raindrop, pebble, sapphire, wine, champagne and more. Buy it here.

Mama J Jeans

Home_maternity As a die-hard J Brand fanatic and jeans & tee girl at heart, I can't imagine going months without wearing my favorite jeans. So I'm relieved and thrilled that they have a maternity style because, slowly but surely, my stockpile of J Brands (pencil, cigarette leg, straight, wide leg) are becoming unwearable in my current state. (I've pretty much exhausted the hair elastic around the button trick.) I just picked up my first pair of Mama J's and they are more fabulous than I ever imagined. Kudos to Jeff and Susie for creating stylish maternity jeans that are incredibly comfy. Most maternity jeans have an elastic panel in the front to cover the bourgeoning belly but J Brand's revolutionary design has soft elastic panels on the sides and the waistband is cut below the belly in the front and higher in the back. The dark indigo hue is super flattering and the 4-way Lycra denim is soft and light. These jeans are designed to grow with your belly and last throughout pregnancy, as well as after when moms are getting back to their regular shape. They are just as comfy as my sweatpants and Rachel Pally leggings, and that's not something you can usually say about jeans. Buy them here. photo courtesy of J Brand.

100 Years of Sigg

809920805244_2In an ongoing effort to live a more eco-friendly life, I'm trying to break my bottled water habit by using a stylish Sigg bottle. The Swiss water bottles are reusable, 100 percent recyclable and do not leach harmful chemicals (a la plastic bottles). In celebration of Sigg's 100-year anniversary, the company has teamed up with StopGlobalWarming.com to launch SIGG100.com, which explores the 100 most significant eco-moments of the past century. The site went live on Feb. 11th and will be up through April 22nd (Earth Day). They will also be hosting online Q&A's with 5 environmental activists: Zem Joaquin, Ed Begley Jr., P. Simran Sethi, Christopher Gavigan and Laurie David. Visit SIGG100.com frequently and you might win a free trip to Hawaii to attend the 5th annual, two-day, Kokua Festival (accommodations provided for by Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa), hosted by Jack Johnson on April 19th & 20th, celebrating music and Earth Day. Buy a Sigg bottle here.

Vince Smocked Silk Dress

Vi_11638755_h_puThe weather in SoCal is currently gorgeous so I'm lusting over spring dresses. This little beauty from Vince is quite simply adorable, with a smocked neckline and beautiful pleating. The silk jersey if fully lined, making it fully functional and comfortable. Plus, it has pockets! Love that. The floaty silhouette is figure-flattering for a range of body types, which is top priority for this pregnant gal. And I adore the fact that the pretty blue color evokes the soothing vibe of a clear blue, sunshine-filled sky. Buy it here
