Denim is one of my specialties. So, needless to say, I have quite an assortment of jeans in my wardrobe. My latest acquisition, and current fave, is the Salem Skinny jean from Stephenson Denim Finery. I discovered the line about a year and a half ago and had the pleasure of meeting designer Amy Stephenson Tsirbas before she changed her bi-coastal NYC/LA life and settled in Australia. Here's what Amy has to say about this fabulous pair of jeans:
d ~ What inspired this design?
a ~ "I wanted a more dressed up version of a skinny jean. The tab waistband and the fun back center belt loop with the Stephenson signature buttons separates it from the sea of basic jeans. The wash is called Boone and is named after a lovely mountain town in North Carolina [Amy grew up in NC]. The wash of this denim reminded me of the autumn colors of the mountainside."
d ~ What do you wear them with?
a ~ "I
love to wear this wash with metallics. The wash has a brown
tint that gives a bronze cast and looks fab with a muted metallic shoe and
bag. I wear them with a white feather-weight tank from the Roe and my vintage
Belstaff Moto Jacket, and lot of Gold Bangles, gold necklaces, and
hot aggressive snakeskin heels. Or I go ladylike with a cream Lanvin top, red patent Chrissy Loubs and a vintage cuff bracelet."
d ~ What makes these skinny jeans so fabulous?
a ~ "I like a skinny that will slightly fall over my heel and not bunch up at the ankle. It adds about 3" to your height! It also has a more balanced silhouette overall if you have yummy hips. I also placed the back pockets about 1/2" farther from the center back seam which gives the illusion of a juicier, rounder bum."
