The Boyfriend Jean is the jean of spring. I wrote an article
on spring '09 denim trends for CA Apparel News that ran this past
October, and the boyfriend jean—a slouchy, relaxed fit, always cuffed
and sometimes cropped—seems to be the hottest style of the upcoming
season. Rich & Skinny's cool interpretation of the design, by Joie
Rucker, is my current fave and the latest addition to my denim
arsenal. Here's what she has to say about this new silhouette:
D~ What inspired this design?
JR~ "A vintage pair of jeans that has been at the back of my closet for years. I stole them from one of my first boyfriends and they had been worn and loved to death."
D~ Why do you love them?
JR~ "They are sexy and comfortable at the same time, and they make my butt look cute!!!"
D~ What do you wear them with?
JR~ "Anything from ankle boots to high-heeled pumps. They look great for evening with a super-dressy top and shoes, or casual for day rolled up with cashmere socks and ankle boots or just tennies. They are so versatile you can really express your style and mood through accessorizing."
